Day 5-My big day!

How in the world can I already be 50 years old? I really don’t feel it. Anyway, it was such a fun day. Tried to be cutsie stylin’ today since it was gonna be in the 90s. We had made a plan to get up and just go the other direction and see what we could find so we got up and set out for Brenham.

While en route, we decided to stop for breakfast in Burton. We weren’t sure they would still be serving breakfast but took a chance (since we slept in). We found Burton Short Stop and once again, another delicious meal to start our day. It was a gas station/restaurant with the sweetest folks working there.

After breakfast, we headed for Brenham. Our first stop was a Goodwill and there was so much to look through it was almost overwhelming. It was a lot of fun though. Then we ran over to Higgins and Forever Young. All of them had lots of things to look through.

Forever Young had what we thought was such a fitting sign for my day…

We drove downtown around the square area and a lot of their stores were closed as well. We did find a couple to go in and found this old drug store in an old building still going strong. We walked in and were asked if we wanted to watch a 5 minute video of the founding of the store. So, we did and it was very interesting. That was a cool building…it still had an original car elevator in it.

Then we drove over to the BlueBell Creamery. We got there too late to go to the observation deck but still checked it out and got a scoop.

We drove back to Round Top because I wanted to visit Junk Gypsy before they closed and The Hubs wanted to take me to a nice supper for my birthday. Y’all! JG is a must stop in and just walk around and Shannon, was just the cutest and friendly as ever.

Our night ended with supper at Lulu’s. Y’all, that was some good eatin’! We were the only people in the restaurant when we arrived. We started with calamari and bread and I ordered Lobster Ravioli and the Hubs had tenderloin. Both were out of this world scrumptious! Since we had no way to bake a cake, we ordered a slice of chocolate cake and it was sooooooo good! Our server was just precious too.

Our last day haul…
