The past few days…

have been ones for the record books. The Hubs wanted to take me somewhere for me turning 50. I didn’t want to go anywhere, I mean, my mom had already offered to take me somewhere and I told her the same thing. I am good. No need to make a fuss. Well, I caved…kinda’. He wanted to take me on an 8 day cruise to which I real quick like was a NO. I appreciate the gesture, but both of us, gone so far away, at the same time, NO! I finally suggested a little far but kinda’ close getaway with some thriftin’/junkin’ and he said okay. So, he booked us a little cabin in the middle of Warrenton, next to Round Top, TX. We wanted to be somewhat unplugged, so no TV, spotty internet, no kitchen appliances for cooking and we were set. It was just what we needed.

Travel along on our journey as I do my best to do it justice.

This is us as we set out down I35. We had no set time we had to be anywhere or do anything, so away we went.

This was downtown Ardmore. The buildings are so cool. There is a train depot that is updated but still so neat. We found some cool little thrift stores and visited with some local folks that were so friendly and welcoming.

Bargain Lady was one of the shops we found. Boy, did we hit the mother load, at their outlet location. The Hubs found Brooks Brothers long sleeve button downs for $4.99. I think he got 9 shirts. The guy told us that somebody just came and donated them all. They look practically brand new. He was excited! I found some cute earrings and a kimono too.

We went into an antique store downtown and I found the prettiest beaded choker and earrings. I was so glad I decided to get it. The employee there told us that an older gentlemen hand makes them. It is his thing that he enjoys doing. I wish he would have been there but nonetheless, it came home with me for only $30.

We moseyed on down the road to Round Top. Of course we had to make the stop of all stops. MJ wanted me to be sure to take a photo with Bucee.

We unloaded the car and decided to venture into town to see if we could find supper. We ended up eating at Manditos for some Mexican food.

This pond was right outside our front door and was so pretty as the sun was settin’. The last photo is our end of day score. Looking forward to the rest of the time spent together. This was our very first time away, just us. It was strange not having the boys with, but so worth it!
