The Hubs has been working a lot lately so his owner boss told him to “take the wife out, on me, to a really nice place.” Boy did he!!!
The Hubs really knows how to dine finely. He made reservations at Vast downtown for 5. I had to hurry from work home to change and look presentable. We got there right on time. You check in at the bottom of the Devon tower and then shoot up the elevator to the 49th floor.
Upon the doors opening, we were greeted and given a hibiscus tea to take to our seat to try. We were seated along the huge lookout windows. It was a sight for sure. I have a motion thing so I didn’t look out very much but it really was a cool view.
John took care of us for the night and did a great job. We started off with a zero proof drink. The Hubs got the Bubbles & Berries (Raspberry Strawberry Syrup, Lemon, Soda) and I got the Pomme Grenade (Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice, Jalapenos, Lime). They were both really good. We switched to water after that…can only have so much of fruity drinks. Next, a big roll with a pad of salty butter came out along with chefs compliments mozzarella ball to try. It was so tasty. We ordered the surf and turf for 2 and needless to say we couldn’t finish it. Plated for us was lobster tail, 2 large shrimp, melted butter, root veggies, a scallop, flash fried wonton wrapped mashed potatoes and broccolini. When you see these photos, you will understand. This food was beyond what you can imagine. The time and effort the chef puts into the presentation and delivery was so on point. I cannot put into words how divine this food was. It just melts in your mouth. I had to stop The Hubs from gnawin’ on the bone!! He mighta looked like a Neanderthal! We chose Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée topped with seasonal berries. Y’all!!!!! I am not a creme brûlée lover, but this was absolutely tasty. The Hubs ordered a cappuccino and I ordered a cup of coffee to enjoy with our creme brûlée. When he brought us the bill, he also sat another chefs compliments in front of us…a dark chocolate orange truffle ball. Yum!

It was such a great night. We don’t get to spend enough time together with our schedules so different. We had a good night, just the 2 of us. It was a blessing and I am very thankful. We are well blessed!
