Vaca Day

I cannot describe to y’all how much yesterday was good for my momma heart. A few weeks ago, my boss told me I gotta use some hours and so I did. The boys usually don’t have to work on Wednesday’s, so I asked the Hubs if he could get Wednesday off and I would take the day off. So, we did!! Just the 4 of us piled in the car, drove to get McDs breakfast (which we usually only do on roadtrips) and eased on down the road. We spent the day at Medicine Park and surrounding areas. To tell y’all it was just a grand outing would be an understatement. We walked, ate, talked, climbed, sweated and walked some more. Most importantly for me, momma, we were all together. I know these days are numbered so it was very important to me that we take this time and spend the day together.

We started off walking around Medicine Park, which has a swimming hole that we decided to wait until later to indulge. We ate lunch at a cafe on the Main Street and then decided to drive up Mount Scott. It was absolutely breathtaking to see the view from the top. The boys climbed around a good bit while we were up there. Once they had had enough, we drove over to the Parallel Forest. All I can say is, my thoughts went straight to the 20/20 stories. I stayed at the entrance and the boys ventured through. It was super cool though. The Holy City was up next. That was pretty cool to see. The buildings, the chapel, the whole setup is so thought out. The prairie dogs we saw on the way out and didn’t realize they are everywhere around there. It was cute to watch them go in and out of the holes in the ground.

From there, we ventured over to this tower off in the distance. MJ was very curious about it. Once we got there, there was a .5 mile trail that led up to the tower, so the boys took off. They just laughed and chatted all day. It was so good to see.

Needless to say, we did not make it back to the watering hole. We decided that we were worn out and we could make it back in time for Wednesday night Bible study, so we came on home.

A day was had and I was still savoring the thought of it this morning as I drove in for volleyball practice. God has been so good to us…so much more than we deserve!
