Day 3-low key

Today, we had time to just chill and do whatever. We started our day at worship. We looked up a local church in LaGrange and low and behold we know the preacher and his family. Well, they were out of town but our friend, Vivian was there watching her grandboys. It was so good to see her there. We went to lunch together after and had pizza at Reba’s.

It was also Father’s Day, so got some good photos of The Dad! The Hubs does such a good job at being not just a father, but also a dad. Yes, there is a huge difference!!! He is present, very patient, a teacher, an example and most importantly shows his love of the Lord! He lives a life that we can learn from. The boys and I love you so very much.

There is not much open in town on Sunday, so we went back to the cabin for a nap and then set out to find supper. We did find Royers Pie Haven and grabbed a cup of coffee and had just enough time to visit a couple little stores before town closed down.

Supper would be only one choice… PawPaw’s Firehouse Cafe. This may be one of the best times we had visitin’ with folks. Paw Paw was a character. We really enjoyed chattin’ with him and his culinary skills were so on point!

The Hubs ordered pulled pork and I had a hankerin’ for some buffalo wings. Well, after a bit, PawPaw came out and asked me what I wanted them dipped in and I said buffalo of course. He said, “I have an Asian honey hot sauce that a Food Network star says is the best around.” I said, “No thanks” and he says, “I will bring both and you can decide.” As he was walking away, I said, “oh and some ranch please.” He looked at me like I had lost my mind and says, “I will bring you the house dressing.” I turned my nose up but would try anyway. Man-o-Man…he was so right on both accounts. The sauce and the dressing were out of this world!!!

As we were checking out, PawPaw had some service coins sitting at the register. The Hubs was asking about them and mentioned that they reminded him or his from the military. PawPaw said, “what?” and flipped a sharpie his way and says, “go sign the service wall” and points to a part of the wall where all the service persons have signed. While I was waiting on him, he asks what I did and I told him and he whips out another sharpie and says,”go sign the teacher wall”. What an honor we both felt. What a fantastic way for PawPaw to honor those that he comes in contact with on the daily. If you are ever in Round Top/Carmine area, you have to stop in! You won’t regret it!!
