I have a handful of movies that I could just watch over and over. One of those being Hope Floats. When planning this trip I saw that Smithville was not that far away and so I knew we had to stop by. Boy, once again, I am so glad we did.

The cutest place and the sweetest folks…We had breakfast at Old World Bakery. Another small town cafe and totally cozy home feel.

We both ordered skillets and they did not disappoint. I couldn’t even finish mine. But I sure was able to finish my toast…jalapeño pepper toast!

After we finished breakfast, we for sure needed to walk it off. So, we set out and walked all over. We walked over to Smitty, the largest gingerbread and then visited places that were open.

That’s one thing we found while venturing through these areas-they are not always open at the beginning of the week. One of the antique stores we ventured into was Texas Trails. There was so much stuff to browse through. We were able to find a few things that we just had to have. Y’all! Kelly was the nicest person ever. She was so helpful and told us all about the town and places to go that have been used in all kinds of movies. She was so personable and just precious.

We also visited the Smithville General Store. It is such a cool building. I just love all the beautiful architecture these old buildings have. The owner and employee(sorry, I didn’t get their names) were so nice as well. We enjoyed a coffee and chatted for a spell and then started walking the town again.

We took some photos in front of some of the older buildings and mural walls. The road photo is where the final scene of Hope Floats was filmed of the parade…”beginnings are scary, endings are usually sad but it’s the middle that counts”

Once we were finished drivin’ around the town, we still had plenty of daylight left and drove over to Bastrop. There were a couple vintage shops there and we got out and walked around for a spell. Vagabond was a cool shop

We didn’t stay there very long once we found out there were some outlets up the road aways in San Marcos, so off we went. Man, talk about some fancy stores…they sure have ’em. We just went to a few.

All in all, another great day! We just have the best time being in the moment and saying, “Now where to? Okay, let’s go.” Our end of day haul. We will be saving some for Christmas presents.
